Plastic Album Sins
K-pop plastic albums have lost their original purpose: to spread the love of great K-pop music. Although no one listens to music on CDs anymore, entertainment companies are producing and selling more and more plastic CD albums! And they are not even recyclable! Entertainment companies use sneaky marketing tactics that force fans to buy the same albums multiple times. They boost their bottom line by tricking fans who just want to support their favorites. They even refuse to take responsibility for the album waste that results from their tricks. Instead, it's the fans who have to deal with the waste. 2024.08.17 - 2024.08.24 Online Poll “Worst K-pop Marketing Trick”
Influencers Ssundi, Are You Good at Fighting?, and Mathieu - three big names on Korean X - shared their thoughts about album marketing in the K-pop industry. Around 12,000 K-pop fans from around the world joined in and voted for the worst marketing trick K-pop companies use to push album sales. The results are now in! First place goes to albums as fan sign lottery, second place to random photo cards, and third place to endless covers of the same album.

As a major player in the K-pop industry, HYBE should take responsibility and stop forcing fans into bulk purchases.
